Marlo is a North London-based interior design studio, founded by Maria Marinos and Lowri Story who share a combined interest in design, art and architecture. We specialise in residential and commercial projects with an emphasis on high quality and authentic materials.

We work closely with a number of gallerists and dealers to source unique pieces to complement the interior design. 

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Marlo oversaw the redevelopment of a duplex apartment in a period building in Little Venice that we purchased in 2019.  While the project did not involve major structural work, it necessitated total renovation of every aspect of the property, including significant preparatory work to the damp course.  This was a very complex task, made more so by the imposition of the lockdown in the spring of 2020.  Marlo managed the project superbly throughout the work, and with great imagination in identifying key design possibilities that have led to the home having a much warmer and more practical character than its prior manifestation.  They oversaw the primary contractor relationship with great skill and timed the workflow well in order to bring everything to completion smoothly.  It would simply not have been able to do this without their involvement.  In addition, they showed great taste when recommending, and excellent connections to source, the full range of design solutions for the apartment.  Individually they were both a comfort and a pleasure to work with, and very responsive throughout. I retained Marlo to help with my new room in a set of barristers’ chambers in The Temple.  The brief, in a listed 18th century building, was essentially to obtain an authentic period feel, with some modern twists, in what also had to be a functional working environment.  Lowri and Maria grasped the essential point of the project immediately and had brilliant practical and aesthetic ideas for completing it.  They have a great ability to find and work with trades and in sourcing items to create a look — whether the perfect library steps, a beautiful oversized writing table, just the right lights for the right spaces, or lovely and sometimes obscure fabrics.  They were also comfortable with the creative tension created by dialogue and in re-formulating aspects of their proposals to meet client objectives and changes of mind.  They pay great attention to detail and have a way of working with and refreshing furniture and other items you wish to keep.  They were a real pleasure to work with throughout the project and they were always ultra-reliable.  I have ended up with an uplifting space I love to spend time in, with beautiful furniture, colours and fabrics completing the room.
